Product Finishing Machine

To develop a high-productivity version of a product-finishing machine, this client's manufacturing engineering staff coupled its existing process knowledge and systems expertise with MRI's mechanical and systems expertise.

Together, the team developed and implemented a twin spindle arrangement, doubling the output of the finishing process. With a feasible method for doubling the output pace, the finishing machine cycle matched the upstream production capabilities making in-line automated transfer a viable option.Thus, automated product input and output was planned and implemented with this installation as well as a bowl feeder, transfer, and insert mechanism eliminating a downstream secondary operation.

Benefits were elimination of operator attention for two operations, consistent product quality, and elimination of a downstream operation.
