High
Speed Mold Ejection System
When a manufacturer of crystalline objects for optical applications
experienced a significant materials handling problem, the company
turned to MRI.
After large round crystals (up to 150 lbs) were grown in controlled
atmosphere furnaces, the objects needed to be removed from the mold
and turned over for subsequent processing. The existing method required
no less than four operators using an overhead crane, a collection
of fixtures, and muscle power. Not only was it a time consuming
operation but was also a significant safety hazard.
MRI designed and built a clamp and turnover fixture such that a
single operator could perform this function in an ergonomically
safe environment.
