Fan Hub Resistance Welder

A design improvement was planned for the fan component of an appliance-associated motor.

This improvement required a switch from a pressed friction drive assembly to a three-piece spot weld design.

An operator attended, dual fixture, dial table spot weld machine was designed and built by MRI to introduce the new design into production. One machine provided sufficient product to cover the entire output of the plant.

The spot welded design eliminated product warranty claims associated with fans slipping on the motor shaft.
