Department of Energy

Under this engagement, MRI was asked by the Department of Energy to assist with the viable production of ceramic liners for turbines. Although the component was under R&D for the department for many years, the question of commercial viability remained due to excessive costs.

After completion of a producibility study, MRI-suggested strategies generated five to six operations to reduce costs, which in turn influenced the department's investment in technologies to bring the product closer to commercialization.
